A finished backyard at dusk — AI concept render with fire pit, pergola and layered lighting

AI outdoor design-to-build

Design your backyard.
Then actually build it.

BuildIn AI turns a photo and a description into a garden plan you can price, buy materials for, and construct — with your own hands or a professional's.

First supported build: composite decks. More components rolling out.

How it works

Describe your backyard

Upload a photo and describe what you want — a couple of minutes, not a questionnaire.

Get a garden plan

AI drafts a concept, resolved into real components with dimensions.

Build it for real

Material list, costs and step-by-step construction guidance.

Built for real yards, not mood boards

Structural, electrical, gas and permit-regulated work may require qualified local professionals. BuildIn AI guidance supports your project — it does not certify construction safety.

Claims you can check

Failed runs refund themselves

Any generation that fails or is interrupted returns its credits automatically — the balance line in your workspace shows it. How credits work

Estimates, labelled as estimates

Material costs appear as ranges marked “verify at your local supplier” — never as fake-precision quotes. Try the calculator

Rules with their sources

Local requirement cards link the official pages they were built from — and say plainly when your area isn’t covered yet.

Your yard stays yours

Permit rules, city by city

Every project shows the permit rules for its city — the reading, its conditions, and the official source each one came from. Three real readings from our rules pack:

Austin, TXSample

No building permit only when all of: ≤ 200 sq ft, ≤ 30 in above grade, not attached to the house, not serving a required exit, and outside a flood hazard area. Guardrails required above 30 in.

Denver, COSample

Uncovered deck 12 in or less above grade, on a non-landmark property: no permit. Over 12 in: zoning permit; 30 in or more: building permit as well.

Chicago, ILSample

New porch and deck guards must be at least 42 in high (municipal code 13-196-570) — tightened after the 2003 porch collapse.
